Illinois Law, Quickly

Sedans: 35% VLT minimum on front sides, back sides, and the rear window. SUVs, vans, and trucks: 50% minimum on front side windows, any darkness behind them. Illinois allows a nonreflective tint strip on the top 6 inches of the windshield (625 ILCS 5/12-503). Illinois requires the film to be nonreflective; mirrored or metallic-reflective film isn't legal on the front or rear side windows. Will tint actually keep my car cooler at the Metra lot?

My SUV's front windows — how dark can they go?

50% VLT is the Illinois floor for front sides on SUVs and trucks. Behind the front doors, you can legally go as dark as you like.

How long before I can roll the windows down after install?
