Sedan? Every window can go to 35% VLT, no darker. SUV, van, or truck? Front side windows hold at 50% VLT, but everything behind the front doors can be as dark as you like. Illinois allows a nonreflective tint strip on the top 6 inches of the windshield (625 ILCS 5/12-503). Illinois requires the film to be nonreflective; mirrored or metallic-reflective film isn't legal on the front or rear side windows. Medical exemptions run through the IL Secretary of State.
