Illinois Tint Law, Short Version

35% VLT minimum on every sedan window. 50% VLT on the front sides of SUVs, vans, and trucks — unlimited behind that. Illinois allows a nonreflective tint strip on the top 6 inches of the windshield (625 ILCS 5/12-503). Illinois requires the film to be nonreflective; mirrored or metallic-reflective film isn't legal on the front or rear side windows.
